OpenAI plans to reduce the revenue sharing ratio with Microsoft after restructuring.
According to media reports on Tuesday, OpenAI has informed investors that it will reduce the revenue sharing ratio to its main supporter Microsoft as the company's restructuring progresses. The ChatGPT manufacturer has recently scaled back significant restructuring plans, with its nonprofit parent company retaining control, a move that may limit CEO Sam Altman's dominance over the company. Reports indicate that in the Financial Estimates provided to investors, OpenAI stated that by the end of 2030, the revenue share given to Microsoft will be reduced by at least half. Under the existing agreement, OpenAI agreed to allocate 20% of its revenue before 2030.
