To bridge the gap between Wall Street and local retail investors, Moomoo Australia and New Zealand partnered with Nasdaq to host their inaugural joint Investor Day in Sydney on August 17. The event gathered hundreds of attendees and brought together global and local financial experts to dissect the forces currently shaping international sharemarkets.

The core focus of the event was to demystify complex market movements and provide practical, data-driven strategies for self-directed investors. Nasdaq chief economist Phil Mackintosh delivered the keynote address, providing a comprehensive overview of the macroeconomic forces currently at play. He outlined the structural shifts driving the global economy, with a specific focus on the outlook for the artificial intelligence trade. Rather than framing AI as a fleeting trend, the discussion centered on how technological advancements are fundamentally altering corporate earnings and market valuations, and how investors can accurately interpret this data.

Following the keynote, attendees were guided through a series of panel discussions and workshops. Mr Mackintosh was joined by leaders from Moomoo Australia and New Zealand, CLSA, Rivkin Wealth Advisors, and the Australian Shareholders’ Association. This collaboration of exchanges, institutional brokers, wealth advisers, and retail advocacy groups provided a holistic view of the investing ecosystem.

The sessions were structured to walk investors through the entire trading lifecycle, covering market awareness, investment strategy, diversified allocation, and efficient order placement. Panelists discussed how local investors can balance traditional Australian shares with exposure to US markets, leveraging diversification to manage risk in a volatile global environment. The dialogue remained focused on clear, actionable education, stripping away jargon to help attendees understand exactly what matters and why.

Moomoo Australia and New Zealand chief executive officer Michael McCarthy noted that the strong turnout for the event highlights a clear shift in local market participation. Australian investors are increasingly demanding the same level of market transparency and analytical rigor that institutions themselves rely on.

"Our strategic partnership with Nasdaq is about giving Australian investors the tools, transparency and knowledge they need to navigate dynamic global markets with confidence," Mr McCarthy said.

Mr Mackintosh echoed this sentiment, adding that the partnership is designed to make deep market insights more accessible to retail investors across the Asia-Pacific region.

The Investor Day follows the successful launch of the joint mid-year market outlook series in July, which will be updated in October. It reinforces the role of the moomoo platform as a comprehensive tool for those looking to confidently take on the market. By combining professional-grade data, advanced charting, and continuous investment education, moomoo ensures that Australian and New Zealand investors are equipped to translate global market awareness into smart, efficient trading decisions.
